Sleeper

There are a number of drawings and a few sculptures that share this title and belong to a theme thread that include figures on rockers. They relate variously to that unshared place we call sleep and the salve that it represents and were initiated by the prompt received by seeing one of the ‘Day-Beds’ designed by Eileen Gray. The notion of a Day-Bed intrigued me. I thought ‘how civilised’ and since then my regard has risen substantially for the value of snoozes.
